#8 - Assignment Models - Jedi Starfighter 1
This is the first attempt at making the smallest of the three Star Wars ships I have chosen to model - The Delta - 7 Aethersprite class Light Interceptor Jedi Starfighter. Its dimensions are: X - 3.92m; Y - 1.44m; Z - 8m. The first thing I did was create a cube and the shape it to have these exact dimensions. I then connected the bottom edge and the top edge on both the top and bottom faces of the cuboid and dragged this edge out using the move tool, giving the shape that bump which expands the further up the ship you go. I then created a connection at the front of the ship (where the tip will be) and used the target weld tool to connect the edges either side together to create a point. I then used the scale tool to shrink this edge and give the end of the ship a sharp point. The model now had a knife-like shape, like the Starfighter should.
Then, using a ruler, I measured the point on screen where the ship is at its widest and placed new vertices on either side of the ship, dragging them out to the same width as the back of the ship. I also moved the vertices at the opposite end of the edges which were created from this to the point where the ship starts to bend upward more slightly, giving it a slightly more defined shape. At this point the front of the ship is more or less the right shape, and the main changes should come from additional objects being connected.
