#3 - Planning - Storyboard Sketch

I have drafted a quick sketch of the storyboard to lock down the core ideas I have for my animation. A general key and very rough drawings show the camera angles I intend to use and the general narrative. The camera will begin flying over the Invisible Hand to give the viewer an idea of its huge scale, before panning to the right to show the Venator firing an EMP at the rear of the Invisible Hand. The hangar shields drop and vent everything out into space, then the Jedi Starfighter stealthily boards the ship before the shields come back up. Of course, this is a very brief and not detailed version.

#16 - Assignment Models - Venator Star Destroyer 1

This is the first post showing my progress on the second of my three assignment models, the Venator Class Star Destroyer. #13 - Assignment Models - Jedi Starfighter 2

To make it easier to get the exact shape of the Jedi star-fighter I imported a template image showing the top angle what it should look like. https://bj-o23.deviantart.com/art/Jedi-Starfighter-template-185786070 I scaled the image to cover eight units across and then pulled the front vertex on the model forward (to the left of the screen). As for the length of the model, I had some issues getting the vertices to move without pulling the rest of the model across, and it was distorting the symmetry. I spent some time trying to move them around until they matched, but when one side was fine, pulling a vertex on the other side would set it effectively set it back to square one. I finally realised the problem was that I was not using soft selection . I enabled this, then was able to pull a vertex without it pulling the other vertices down with it. #41 - Model Texturing - Jedi Starfighter 1

When I attempted to begin texturing my first model, I ended up with absolutely no progress. This is because for some reason Maya will freeze if I so much as click on something sometimes. I have no idea why it is doing that but it is preventing me from getting any work done at the moment. I did initially try to split the faces on the body of the star fighter up using the multi-cut   tool, so I could texture the model using the patterns on the images I am using for comparison. Once I had the faces split up, I tried assigning a Lambert to a single face. This is when it started freezing frequently. I did manage to get the colour to change, however it changed the entire model rather than just the face I have selected. I will have to look into changing single faces before I continue. Unfortunately, this texture error is kind of irrelevant due to Maya freezing again and losing all of the progress. At least it wasn't much progress, as I couldn't do much without it freezing.
